daily bread

In an effort to find ways to fold in creativity a little more into my days, I have a loose goal of painting one small watercolor each month this year. Honestly, I anticipate this will fall away some months and others I will be inspired, but regardless I was able to knock one out already! Inspired by a dear friends beautiful photograph of the Mississippi Delta, I painted this to send to her during a season of her life that is difficult.

I see plenty I would change and wish I had better technique, which is part of the thing that often stops me from finishing a painting or even picking up the brush lately. But, I also see layers of paint and water and color that went down with prayers for her and thoughts of our times together, and I see my own style in this somehow, which makes me happier than the former thoughts. So off it goes to hopefully brighten her day!
