mouse house
During the Summer, Boyd and I spent a few days making a little mouse room out of a cardboard box we had lying around. It was inspired by one of our favorite books, “Red House, Tree House, Itty Bitty Brown Mouse” by Jane Godwin. I used scraps of fabric for the bed, floor and rug. A piece of patterned paper became the wallpaper. I made a shelf out of cardboard and we hung artwork that was inspired by some books we love.
I started doing a little research for more “mouse house” ideas and stumbled on a world that was SO inspiring! I quickly found the Flisat Doll House from IKEA that seems to be used for a lot of dollhouses. As well as, a world of miniatures that I could not stop exploring. It opened up all of these ideas and before I knew it I was creating a mood board for a legit mouse house of our own!
Really this project became an outlet for not only creating something Boyd could enjoy, but also a creative project for me. It was possibly the first one in years where I had no real end goal or expectation other than to just have fun making something.
I want to share this project in a few different posts so there is space to highlight the different things I worked on, and also share future things I make for it.
This post features the first mouse room, mood board, and various stages of the mouse house in process.
