pink bathroom redo

We moved into our house almost five years ago. There has been much debate during those years to figure out how we wanted to update this bathroom. It was pretty easy to decide to keep the pink tile vs. gutting and starting over. It is still in such great shape, and it felt wrong to rip it out for no reason. Plus, I liked the challenge of finding a way to make this modern in a little unexpected way.

This room is not only our guest bath but also the bathroom our son uses. Pink is not the most standard color for a boy's bathroom, but I liked the idea of finding a way to make this space feel less like a “pink bathroom” and more like a colorful, playful space. Wallpaper was always going to be part of the equation, but there are so many amazing options out there! It was difficult to decide on the right one. I ended up settling on a wild animal print, that, of course, was one of the first ones I looked at! And after much debate about either a pink/orange combo or pink/green combo, I found the perfect green to bring in a subtle jungle theme. When I discovered the artwork of the tiger bathing, I knew we were headed in the right direction. Little details like the wooden giraffe hook, elephant toothbrush holder, and more modern lighting and fixtures bring it all home.

There are still some more tweaks to be made, but overall I love how it turned out. Boyd loves to point out the animals at bath time, and I love that while it is a kid's bathroom, it does not necessarily feel that way.
